Skype in Media launches Shoot the Future contest for aspiring content creators
The way we engage with and consume media has changed dramatically in the past few years and Skype is proud to be part of this continuing evolution. From user-generated content seen on the likes of The Late Late Show and VICE News, to broadcasters’ creating pop-up newscasts, Skype TX has provided the hardware/software solution to make it possible.
Now, we’re going further by inviting the next wave of content creators to turn their ideas into reality. We want to not only provide the technical tools, but also help discover the talent who will use these tools to their fullest.
So, today, Skype in Media launched Shoot the Future, a contest designed to discover new entertainment concepts that are truly innovative and inclusive.
If you have a creative way that incorporates the power of Skype into online content, a show, documentary (or anything), we want to see it! More specifically, our illustrious panel of judges wants to see it: social media trendsetter, YesJulz; rapper/actor/director Ice-T and Game of Thrones producer, Oliver Butler.
Ice-T had this to say about the project: “I’ve starred in them, written them and rapped in them. And now I’m gonna’ help find the next big thing in video content with Skype in Media’s Shoot the Future.”
All you need to do is develop a great pitch or trailer, complete a business plan and submit your idea by June 27, 2016. The winner will receive $20,000 to finance their project, plus access to our industry experts judges who will offer guidance.
And, if you plan to attend the Variety Entertainment and Technology Summit this week in New York City, come by and see us. We’re sponsoring a panel discussion and will be using Skype TX to demonstrate the potential of #ShootTheFuture with the help of comedian James Davis.
We can’t wait to hear what today’s leading media and publishing leaders (and talent like you) have to say.
