We just returned home from a jam-packed week at NAB—the National Association of Broadcasters’ annual Las Vegas gathering. During which, Skype hosted back-to-back announcements, informational events, and plenty of celebrations with fellow broadcasting buffs (not to mention a line-up of new, savvy partners).
Highlights from the week included sweet R&B beats from singer/songwriter Allen Stone (followed by the happiest of happy hours that evening—where fans were free to mingle with the musical prodigy himself). Other hip happenings: Skype TX for Radio debuted with Brooke & Jubal in The Morning, one of Seattle’s top music stations, facilitated a live interview with Jon Steinberg via Cheddar, and impressive live drawing by digital artist artist Aaron Rutten.
Skype was especially ecstatic with the launch of Skype TX for Radio. Made possible via our partner Broadcast Bionics, Skype TX for Radio is the latest and greatest from Skype TX—designed specifically with the radio broadcasting world in mind. “Skype TX for Radio is an incredible new way for radio broadcasters to make high-quality audio calls with millions of Skype users,” states Dan McQuillin, Managing Director of Broadcast Bionics.”
“During NAB we spoke with many of the major American radio groups, as well as International and non-traditional broadcasters from developing countries and new media. All of whom are excited to use Skype more on-air and more effectively within their facilities.” He continues, “We are excited that Skype TX for Radio will prove to be a democratizing technology for so many broadcasters. The Broad and positive reception for this capability demonstrates a strong desire to use Skype more extensively across a range of formats and markets.”
The first of it’s kind, Skype TX for Radio delivers high-quality audio to an industry that’s dependent on audio quality. Additionally, it delivers audio quality superior to traditional phones or mobile networks, and allows radio producers to bring on guests from Skype’s 300 million users around the globe. (Our live pop up show with radio superstars Brooke and Jubal showcased exactly that.) Conjuring even more praise for our partner, Broadcast Bionics was awarded Best in Show at NAB 2017 for Skype TX for Radio from Radio World—an impressive feat by our books! Speaking of partners, NewTek, a longtime partner of Skype TX, released a new piece of hardware, the TriCaster TC1, with the Skype TX built directly in.
Our programing throughout the week wowed customers, demonstrating how Skype TX continues to deliver the highest quality audio and HD video for broadcasters. For future announcements and even more product releases, stay tuned. We’re announcing it all right here on our blog!
