Earlier this month an acclaimed team of supervillains strutted the red carpet during the world premier of “Suicide Squad”. Hosted in London, the event featured the entire cast of A-listers, including: Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Karen Fukuhara, Jared Leto, Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje, Cara Delevingne and Director David Ayer.
Joining celebrities carpet-side and acting to further unite fans with the feature film’s stars: Skype TX, which connected satellite premiers in Mexico City, Lisbon, Kiev, Dubai, Madrid, Johannesburg, Rome, Berlin and Hilversum, and enabled fans to pitch questions to the cast, in real-time, from across the globe.
Those who missed the broadcast can catch the event in its entirety on the Warner Bros. Facebook page.
The celebrated studio was suitably impressed by the hardware-software solution, commenting:
“Skype TX helped Warner Bros. Pictures bring fans across the world even closer to the cast, making it easier to capture and share special moments like our global live premiere event for Suicide Squad.”
The specific technology supporting the event: the Quicklink TX, courtesy of the Swansea, Wales-based Quicklink. Ideal for integrating high-quality, live Skype video calls with entertainment shows and live broadcast. In addition to reception and transmission of multiple Skype video calls via an SDI and HDMI interface, Quicklink can receive and send broadcasts from any video-enabled device running Skype.
Needless to say, it was Skype’s accessible, high-quality technology that turned the “Suicide Squad” opening night from a London-based evening of glamor to a globally broadcast, fan-centric phenomenon. Concerning a future that continues to connect the famed with their fans, Skype in Media anticipates many more successful events to come.
