This Thursday, May 5th, legends and loved ones of the entertainment industry will attend the Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel for Variety Magazine’s Entertainment and Technology Summit. The event will look to address and debate trending topics such as digital content, millennials and media, virtual reality and more.
Broadcast and media A-listers slated for attendance include YouTube sensation Tyler Oakley, Marty Moe, Top Dog at Vox Media, Nick DiCarlo, Samsung’s Virtual Reality GM, Facebook mastermind Gwen Throckmorton, and world-renowned music producer Timbaland.
Among eager RSVPers (and thrilled to be joining the ranks of such innovative thought leaders): Skype in Media, will be hosting the discussion “Always On: News and Live Event Coverage Across Platforms” — a conversation highlighting how viewers continue to interact with live events and news amid such quickly changing digital landscapes – with guest speakers including; Shawna Thomas, Senior Producer of Meet the Press, Don Sperling, VP of the New York Giants, Marc DeBevoise, EVP & General Manager CBS Digital Media, moderated by Variety Co-Editor-in-Chief Andrew Wallenstein. Aimed at everyone from broadcast industry newbies to long-time lovers of all things video content-related, our Shoot the Future contest is geared for promoting and supporting passionate producers and creatives. Folks are invited to pitch their ideas, and potentially cash in on a hefty prize. Awards include $20,000 in development cash, as well as personal Skype sessions with rap legend turned actor Ice-T, social media queen and mega influencer YesJulz, and Oliver Butler, Producer on Game of Thrones.
